The fastest way to use AI well as a CEO, even if you are not technical.
First 10 minutes
Set up your AI for executive work
You do not need to learn to code. You need to know what to point AI at, what to keep away from it, and how to keep your business safe while you do it.
Pick one tool and stay with it for a month. Claude or ChatGPT are both fine to start. Create a single project or workspace for your CEO work so context stays in one place.
Write a short standing instruction it should follow every time. For example:
"I am the CEO of a [industry] company in [country]. Reply in plain business language. Be direct. Flag anything you are unsure about rather than guessing."
That one paragraph changes the quality of everything that follows.
This week
Five ways to use it this week
Turn a messy set of notes into a one-page decision memo.
Draft your board or investor update, then ask it to argue against your own conclusions.
Summarise a long report or contract into the five things that change your decision.
Prepare for a meeting by generating the questions you should be ready to answer.
Pressure-test a plan by asking it to list what would have to be true for the plan to fail.
Hard limits
Three things never to hand it
Customer, employee, or financial data
Do not paste anything you would not put on a public website. That means names, salaries, client records, revenue figures.
A final decision
It drafts and stress-tests. You decide. Never let the output skip the step where you read it critically.
Anything where being confidently wrong is expensive
Check the source yourself. AI hallucinates. It will give you a wrong number with the same tone as a correct one.
Data hygiene
Security basics
Treat anything you type as if it could be seen. Use a business or enterprise tier where your inputs are not used for training if you handle sensitive material.
Strip names and numbers you do not need before pasting. Keep one person accountable for which tools the company is allowed to use.
None of this needs to be complicated. It just needs to be decided once.
Next step
Go to Prompts
Copy the prompts that match your week. Each one is ready to paste. Replace anything in brackets.
